CHAKRA    
 
Chakras The major chakras are situated at the junctions of the three major nadis as they cross each other. Chakras are part of what is termed the "psychic" body. Chakras are spirals of energy that spin in from the front of the physical body towards the spine and into the sushumna nadi in the spinal column. There are seven major Chakras:
 
 
 
The first Chakara is situated at base of the spin. Muladhara represents the Earth principle with the bija mantra LAM. Meditation on Muladhara confers knowledge of the Kundalini. It can be experience by the simple pranayama Anulom Vilom (Alternate Breathing). It bestows breath and mind control and knowledge of past, present and future..
       
 
Swadhisthan is situated in the genital area. It represents the Water with the bija mantra VAM. It controls the lower abdomen and the physical body. Meditation on Swadisthana crescent moon gives control over the water element and confers psychic powers, intuitional knowledge and knowledge of astral entities. Many impure qualities are annihilated.
 
 
 
Manipura is situated at navel, corresponds to the solar plexus. It contains the element Fire with the bija mantra RAM. Meditation on Manipura removes fear of fire and gives freedom from disease.
 
       
     
  The region of the chakra is Heart. It contains the element Air with the bija mantra YAM. Meditation on Anahata Chakra bestows pure qualities cosmic love and various psychic powers.
     
     
 
Vishudha is situated at the base of the throat, corresponds to the laryngeal plexus in the physical body. It contains the element Ether with the bija mantra HAM. The presiding deity is Sadasiva. One who meditates on Vishuddha attains high success, complete knowledge of the four Vedas and knows the past, present and future.
       
   
Ajna is in between the eyebrows, the seat of the mind. The element of Ajna is Avyakta and bija mantra is OM (universal mantra) Paramasiva is presiding deity. Meditation on Ajna chakra destroys the karma of past lives, and gives liberation and intuitional knowledge. It’s here because all great Yogis consciously put prana (vital energy) at the time of death. People often call it with it's nick name 'third eye chakra'.
       
       
Sahasrara, the last seventh chakra is situated at the crown of the head, corresponding the the pineal gland of the physical body. It is abode of Siva. When kundalini shakti is united with Siva at the Sahasrara, the yogi experience extreme bliss, attains the superconscious state, the highest knowledge, and becomes a fully developed Jnani.
